Is this the perfect Talking Heads video?

This is Alicia, we recently helped her make a 90 second video pitching herself to be Head Girl at The Queen's School in Chester.

Now, Alicia's video doesn't utilise many of the things discussed in the blogs above, so it's probably not the perfect talking heads video. But what about as a perfect simple talking heads video?

Alicia needed to make her pitch in a maximum of 90 seconds.

To have a good chance of winning the required votes, she needed to talk directly to her audience in an engaging, natural, friendly and insightful way.

We filmed with a single camera, using a pleasant background that was blurred out so as not to be distracting.

We used a professional lapel microphone to ensure good audio capture.

And importantly we used a teleprompter, meaning Alicia could talk smoothly and without hesitation directly into the camera lens - 90 seconds doesn't sound long but remembering a script that long and reciting it smoothly into a camera lens is nigh-on impossible!

It's fair to say that Alicia made the most of the set-up and spoke superbly on camera!

Yes, we could have used two camera angles, added B-roll cutaways etc, but time and budget did not allow for this.

Sometimes a straightforward talking heads video done well is all that's needed.

And it can be very powerful in speaking directly to an audience.

It's actually also not especially expensive to do professionally either.

We think you could do far worse than copying our set-up (or asking us to do it for you) and emulating Alicia's style on camera!
